UNITY Enhances its Youth Program Support with the Addition of New Staff Positions

Greg Mendoza and Josh Tso have been appointed to the positions, focusing on youth programming and events

Mesa, Az – United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY) is proud to announce that two staff members have been appointed to new positions within the organization. Greg Mendoza will take on the role of youth programs director, while Josh Tso will serve as youth programs coordinator for UNITY. In these newly created roles, Mendoza and Tso will work to update, develop, and support all of UNITY’s programming.

“Both Greg and Josh are already valued members of the UNITY team,” said Mary Kim Titla, UNITY executive director. “I’m confident that in these new roles, they will play a vital part in enhancing our youth programming and outreach, and furthering UNITY’s mission to support Native youth.”

As youth programs director, Mendoza (Akimel O’odham/Tohono O’odham/Yaqui) will oversee and manage UNITY’s youth engagement strategy, including the management of programs and supporting Native youth outreach. He is the immediate past Governor of the Gila River Indian Community and brings over 30 years of work experience in the areas of youth development, public policy and tribal government to the role. He has served as an ASU Native American Alumni Chapter board member, treasurer/board member for the National Indian Education Association, co-chair for the Tribal Champions Council for Boys and Girls Clubs in Indian Country, and has been a member of UNITY’s Council of Trustees since 1997.

Tso (Navajo) has worked as a project support assistant and as UNITY’s Wellness Warrior program coordinator, where he contributed to the development of a health and fitness mobile app for Indian Country, to use and share traditional foods, and promote indigenous approaches to overall wellness. As a staff member, he has provided leadership development, youth training and health and fitness support to youth groups throughout the country. In his new role as youth program coordinator, he will work with the youth program director in managing UNITY’s youth programs, and will be responsible for recruiting participants, organizing, and coordinating program-related activities and events.
