For years, the Four Bears Pow Wow has marked the beginning of the pow wow season on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota. It has grown to a three-day celebration of American Indian dance and culture.
The Fort Berthold Indian Reservation is home to the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation, also known as the Three Affiliated Tribes. One of the highlights of Four Bears, as it is referred to by the locals, is the many special presented by the committee, families, and head staff.
We attended the annual celebration at the request of renowned pow wow announcer, Mr. Lawrence Baker. Baker has been a long time supporter of UNITY and friend of Executive Director Mary Kim Titla.
“UNITY has an established history and presence in Indian Country and we’re thankful for the opportunity to strengthen our presence.” said Jared Ivins-Massey, UNITY Social Media Specialist. We look forward to supporting our Wellness Warriors at the many upcoming pow wows this 2019 trail. Look out for a member of the UNITY Team this summer!
