Recruiting for the UNITY Orchestra!

If you’re planning to attend the 2019 National UNITY Conference and you can read music, please consider being a part of the UNITY Orchestra! In addition to instrumental musicians, some singers may be needed as well. Music teacher Michelle McCauley, Washoe/Shoshone/Paiute/Quinault, who will serve as orchestra conductor, will host three workshop sessions on Sunday, July 7 for those wishing to take part. The UNITY Orchestra will then provide entertainment during the Gala banquet on Sunday, July 7.

Here is a list of the required instruments: (All musicians must be familiar with the standard scales on their instruments and have at a minimum played music throughout Junior High):

  • Violin
  • Flute
  • Bb Soprano Clarinet
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Viola
  • Trumpet
  • French Horn
  • Baritone
  • Trombone
  • Percussionists (any tribal drum or rattle)

This is not the first time an orchestra has been assembled for a UNITY Conference. The first group performed at the UNITY Midyear Conference in 2016. If you have questions about this opportunity, please email Michelle McCauley at
