Learn with Alumni: CHANCE W/GR8NESS hosts Judith LeBlanc

UNITY Alumni Chance Rush hosts Judith LeBlanc, the Director of Native Organizers Alliance, was able to make an impact on the NativeVote  in 2020 by engaging the “Moccasins on the Ground” movement. LeBlanc shares her life long path being involved in the struggling for justice, from Massachusetts to Oklahoma: “with a high heel on one foot and a moccasin on the other”. In the 2020 election, we had the”most natives who voted ever” with states like Arizona and Nevada, where the Native Vote had a huge impact on the election outcomes. LeBlanc shares that unless we are organized, Indian Country won’t be able to take advantage of the new and upcoming opportunities.

The message is clear that we need to take the power in our hands and teach people how to organize beyond the new leadership transition. Watch and learn how the NativesVote 2020 movement was the most spiritually significant for her. We have to recognize our ancestral responsibility to change the narrative and organize to get Native voices heard beyond the voting booth.

The Native Organizers Alliance is a training and organizing network dedicated to building the capacity of Native tribes, traditional societies, and community groups to make transformational change. It also provides a forum for Native leaders and organizers to work in collaboration with each other and promote their work with non-Native national allies.

The Native Organizers Alliance (NOA) supports grassroots-driven social change rooted in Native traditional practices and values to advance sovereignty and the health and wellbeing of rural and urban Native communities and reservations across Indian Country.
