Phoenix, AZ – The Future Inspired Native American Leaders (FINAL) Youth Council held their first official meeting after inducting their newly elected officers. The meeting took place at the Phoenix Indian Center on August 24, 2017. 
With almost 20 youth council members in attendance, UNITY Project Coordinator Lynnann Yazzie conducted team-building activities and mind-mapping exercises that focused on youth council goals for the year. The presentation was designed to help youth brainstorm and gather ideas to be explored and expanded on in future meetings.

In addition to mind-mapping and team-building, members and invited guests had the opportunity to listen to youth reports from the 41^st Annual National UNITY Conference, which was held in Denver, Colorado from July 6-10, 2017. Reports were presented by Mathew Bancroft, Jowun Ben, Jeremy Nez, David Romero, and Persephone Rosas about their UNITY Conference experiences.
