Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Pass Resolution of Support
Mary Kim Titla, UNITY Executive Director, recently attended the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians’ (ATNI) 2013 Annual Convention that was hosted by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe in Worley, Idaho. She presented a resolution to the assembled member tribes that asked for their support of two upcoming major events; the annual UNITY Midyear Meeting and the 2014 National UNITY Conference. The resolution was adopted and states in part that, “ATNI does hereby agree to support the efforts of UNITY, its Local Planning Committee and encourages Member Tribes to attend, participate, offer support and sponsorship of UNITY’s Midyear and National Conferences.”
The 2014 National UNITY Conference will be held from June 29 to July 3 in Portland, Oregon, the home base for ATNI’s regional office. Since the upcoming national conference will be held in the Northwest, the support of the region’s tribes is of particular importance and is expected to play a key role in the success of this annual gathering of the nation’s Native youth. In appreciation of the support, Ms. Titla stated, “On behalf of UNITY and the Native youth we serve, I thank the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians for your support of our efforts. We look forward to working with you and welcoming you and your youth to the Midyear, National Conference and all future UNITY events.”
The complete resolution, which was passed by a vote of the member tribes, is attached to this story and may be viewed by following the provided link.
