2019 Golda Cook Scholarship presented by the American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC)
In honor of the life of Golda Cook (1913 – 2005) and her on-going support of UNITY, especially in the organization’s early years, Golda’s friends, family, and UNITY trustees established the Golda Cook Memorial Fund.
UNITY awards two students (one young woman and one young man), who demonstrate community service and leadership. The scholarships, $1000 each, will be announced and awarded during the 2019 National UNITY Conference banquet in Orlando, Florida.
This year’s awards are being presented by the American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC).
Criteria for consideration:
-Must be an active member of a UNITY youth council, or an active individual member; -Must have a graduated from a high school or received a GED certificate; -Will be attending college or a post-secondary training program this Fall 2019; -Must be willing to work hard to achieve educational goals; -Must show commitment to upholding the mission of UNITY and to help improve the quality of life for all Native People; -Must have a letter of recommendation, supporting the applicant, by a youth council advisor, tribal/village leader, or other school or community official; -Must be in attendance at the UNITY Banquet on July 7, 2019 in Orlando, Florida – part of the 2019 National UNITY Conference.
Please note, only online submissions are accepted at this time. Letters of Recommendation must be uploaded here to this form, and not sent in separately. Only online materials submitted by this date will be reviewed and considered. Application deadline is on May 31, 2019.
